After the mysterious monster let out a roar like a declaration, the two emperor level beasts behind it also responded.
One was an octopus-like creature that blotted out the sky, resembling a floating island.
The other looked like a dragon from Chinese mythology, stretching over a thousand metres long, its entire body crackling with lightning and thunder.
The two beast emperors also roared in unison.
Rumble.
The roar formed a shockwave that spread in all directions. Below, countless aquatic beasts in the lake immediately began making strange cries as they surged forward along the river, rushing into the inland regions of the human world.
China, Jiangnan Base City, Yangzhou City, Luo Feng’s home.
It was around 8 p.m.
In the living room, Luo Feng and Xu Xin were sitting on the sofa watching television, with some fruit and snacks placed in front of them.
“Today one of the young girls under me came to report another complaint. Although I don’t really like employees gossiping, I have to admit that Manager Li in our company is really poor in terms of people skills. Is there any need to be so obvious with flattery and bootlicking? It makes things difficult for me,” Xu Xin said while watching TV.
“Just fire him,” Luo Feng replied simply.
“You can’t manage a company like that, firing people whenever you want,” Xu Xin said. “Besides, Manager Li is still quite capable in terms of business ability. I’ll just warn him later.”
“Oh, I don’t really understand that stuff anyway.”
Luo Feng replied casually.
“By the way, my parents are coming back tomorrow,” he added.
“Ah?” Xu Xin was startled. “Then what do we do?”
“What do we do? Just deal with it. You stay here,” Luo Feng said, turning to her with a teasing smile. “You’re already mine anyway, what are you still shy about?”
“What do you mean I’m yours?” Xu Xin widened her eyes.
Luo Feng immediately burst out laughing.
“You!” Xu Xin lunged at him angrily.
“Wait, phone call,” Luo Feng quickly said.
“Don’t lie to me,” Xu Xin did not believe him.
“Really, there’s a call,” Luo Feng said as he picked up his phone and switched on speaker.
A deep voice came through.
“Hello, Luo Feng.”
“Oh, Mendhenson,” Luo Feng said with a slight smile. “What’s the matter?”
Ice Emperor Mendhenson.
Xu Xin immediately covered her mouth in shock, not daring to make a sound.
Ever since the Fog Island incident, this Ice Emperor had developed some minor conflict with Luo Feng, and they had not contacted each other since. Unexpectedly, the number three speaker of the United States, the Ice Emperor Mendhenson, was calling him personally.
“A very important matter. It concerns the survival of all human beings on Earth. Go to the War God Palace immediately. All global speakers, leaders, and government officials will be there,” Mendhenson said urgently.
“What is it?” Luo Feng was shocked.
The survival of humanity on Earth?
“No time to explain in detail. I still need to notify others. Hurry and enter the War God Palace,” Mendhenson said before hanging up.
In fact, the United States government needed to notify important figures like Luo Feng. If they sent an ordinary staff member, Luo Feng might not believe it. But a call from Mendhenson carried enough weight.
The living room fell silent.
Luo Feng frowned.
“What happened?” Xu Xin asked worriedly.
“I don’t know. I’ll go into the virtual space and check. I’ll tell you later,” Luo Feng said, then went upstairs to the gravity chamber.
The gravity chamber was closed. In normal mode, it was set to 1g.
Luo Feng sat cross legged.
“Babata, connect me to the virtual space, War God Palace,” he said.
“No problem,” Babata replied lazily from his wrist space.
Whoosh.
In the next moment, Luo Feng appeared in a large room, the same one he had first entered when joining the War God Palace.
A voice echoed.
“Speaker Luo Feng, please proceed to the top floor meeting hall immediately.”
The top floor meeting hall.
Luo Feng was slightly surprised.
That was the largest hall in the War God Palace, usually used for major council meetings. For everyone to be summoned there meant something serious had happened.
He quickly made his way there.
On the spiral staircase, he met two other speakers and also saw several War Gods in white robes. After brief exchanges, it was clear that none of them knew what had happened either. They had only received urgent summons from the United States side.
At the top floor meeting hall, more than fifty golden robed speakers had already arrived, along with many white robed War Gods. Among them were also leaders of the five great nations who had been specially authorised to enter.
Normally, those leaders had no access to this place.
“Luo Feng.”
“Jia Yi.”
Luo Feng greeted Jia Yi.
“Do you know what’s going on?”
“It seems something major has happened in the United States, but I don’t know the details,” Jia Yi shook his head. “According to their president, it’s extremely serious, catastrophic. But he didn’t have time to explain.”
“Catastrophic?” Luo Feng’s heart sank slightly.
Within minutes, all speakers had arrived. The leaders of the five great nations and the HR Alliance chairman were also present.
The entire atmosphere grew heavy.
“The First Speaker has arrived.”
“The President of the United States is here.”
Luo Feng turned his head.
Hong, Raytheon, Mendhenson, and others arrived together, including the US President.
The hall fell completely silent.
The President walked to the podium.
“Leaders of all nations, speakers, and representatives,” the dark skinned president said heavily, “this should have been a peaceful gathering. But I must sadly inform you that a disaster has come to Earth, a catastrophe, the end of the world.”
Everyone’s expression changed.
A president would not joke about something like this.
“I cannot explain it clearly. Please watch this video.”
A huge screen appeared in front of the hall.
It began to play footage.
A sunset scene, with a war base spanning across a river.
“This is the New York region from the Great Nirvana Period,” Jia Yi said softly.
On screen, everything was calm.
Then suddenly.
A shadow burst out of the water at unimaginable speed, forming a black blur that instantly appeared in front of the war base.
It was an unknown monster no one had ever seen before.
Powerful limbs, massive wings covered in scales, a long tail, a horn pointing into the sky, and cold dark golden eyes.
A beast over 180 metres long.
“What kind of monster is this?”
“I’ve never seen it.”
“It looks like an emperor level beast.”
Everyone whispered.
Yet deep in their hearts, an inexplicable fear arose. Even Hong, Raytheon, and Luo Feng felt it only faintly, but it was there.
On screen.
Three laser beams struck the creature.
Silence.
The beams vanished.
“What?”
“The scales are undamaged?”
“Impossible. Even emperor level beasts would be injured by maximum power laser fire.”
The hall erupted.
Even Hong, Raytheon, and Luo Feng changed expression.
The President continued in a low voice.
“That was indeed the highest output of our laser weapons. Please continue watching.”
On screen, the monster opened its mouth.
Space around it twisted.
The massive war base actually floated up and shrank rapidly, flying straight into its mouth.
It swallowed the entire base.
“God.”
“No way.”
“Impossible.”
The entire hall fell into shock.
Five thousand soldiers inside, all gone.
The President’s voice turned even heavier.
“And this is only the beginning.”
He pointed at the screen.
Led by this mysterious monster, two beast emperors and countless sea beasts had already begun invading inland.
On screen, scenes showed beasts surging along rivers into the continent.
Another cut.
The monster appeared again and swallowed a second war base.
“Unstoppable.”
“No defence.”
“No matter how strong the base, how brave the soldiers, how powerful the warriors, it simply swallows everything.”
“Nightmare.”
“Disaster.”
“End of the world.”
The President looked at everyone in the hall.
But no one spoke.
The entire room fell into dead silence.
