Paralysed on the floor of the hospital ward, Wang Xing’an stared at the contact list displayed on the phone.
Jia Yi, the most powerful figure in China’s military.
Isadora, the underground queen who controlled more than half of the world’s economy.
Hong, the undisputed strongest man on Earth.
Each of those names alone was enough to shake the entire world. Yet this young man’s phone contained the direct contact numbers of all three. Speaking to any of them directly was far more difficult than calling the president of a nation.
“T… this…”
Tang Yongqing, Tang Yongyuan, their family, and Wang Xing’an’s bodyguards all stared blankly at Luo Feng.
Just who was this young man in the black casual shirt?
“You’re bluffing me!”
Wang Xing’an glared furiously, his face twisted with rage as he lay on the floor.
“You think throwing together a fake contact list can scare me? You claim to know the HR Alliance Chairwoman and the Chief Instructor of the Limits Hall. Well, I could just as easily claim I’m Hong’s son. Anyone can brag.”
“Across the entire world, only a tiny handful of people can contact those three directly. Someone as young as you? There probably aren’t even three such people on Earth.” Wang Xing’an sneered at Luo Feng. “If I happened to run into one, I’d better go buy a lottery ticket.”
Luo Feng could not help laughing.
“Hmph.”
“Since you’re a Spirit Reader, you’ve probably got some background.” Wang Xing’an lay on the floor, staring fixedly at Luo Feng. “So, do you want to settle this the civilised way or the violent way?”
“The civilised way? The violent way?” Luo Feng looked at him with interest. “Go on.”
“The violent way is simple. You lose your temper and kill me. This is a public hospital. The Base City’s surveillance system covers every corner of it. Everything that happens here will be recorded perfectly. Then the Wang family will take legal action. Even if you’re an Advanced War God, you’ll still be sentenced to death.”
“You kill me, the law sentences you to death. That’s the violent way.”
“As for the civilised way, it’s even simpler. Let me go. I won’t leave. I’ll wait outside this ward. The Base City police will arrive soon enough. Then we’ll each use whatever influence we have and see who ends up ruined.”
Wang Xing’an stared at Luo Feng, madness flickering in his eyes.
Luo Feng looked down at him.
Meanwhile, the Tang family had already fallen into complete panic.
The legendary Wang family was far beyond anything they could contend with.
As for this newly discovered relative, he was actually a Spirit Reader.
Clearly, he was no ordinary person either.
No matter how they looked at it, the Tang family remained the weakest party.
“Wang Xing’an.”
Luo Feng looked at him calmly.
“Speak.”
Wang Xing’an met his gaze.
“For someone who’s not afraid of death, you’ve got some courage.”
Luo Feng nodded slightly.
“But there are plenty of people in this world who aren’t afraid to die. Countless martial artists fight in the wilderness every day, living constantly on the edge of death.”
“What I’m curious about is why you force so many women to become yours.”
For the first time, Wang Xing’an showed a trace of pride.
“It’s my hobby. My only hobby. Every outstanding woman is a masterpiece created by heaven, the finest possible addition to my collection.”
“So if persuasion fails, you resort to force?” Luo Feng continued. “And if force fails, you simply destroy them. What gives you the right to ruin those women who refuse to submit?”
“They’re nothing but ants.” Wang Xing’an answered confidently. “Being part of my collection is an honour.”
Luo Feng looked down at the young man lying on the floor.
“They’re complete strangers to you. They bear you no grudge. Yet you casually decide their fate?”
He looked steadily at Wang Xing’an.
“You asked whether I wanted to settle this the civilised way or the violent way.”
“I’ll tell you.”
“The violent way, you die, and nothing happens to me.”
“The civilised way, you still die, and nothing happens to me.”
Luo Feng continued calmly.
“You have no grievance against me. My cousin here is a researcher who contributes to the country. She has never committed any crime. Simply because she refuses to submit to you, you’re prepared to send her entire family to hell.”
“For that reason alone, Wang Xing’an, I can tell you this.”
“I can wait for the police.”
“I can wait for your military connections.”
“I can wait for the important members of your Wang family.”
“I can even let you prepare your entire defence before putting you on trial.”
“Use whatever methods you have. Call on whatever influence you possess.”
“I can declare the outcome right now.”
“The court’s final verdict will be death, to be carried out immediately.”
Luo Feng’s voice remained completely calm, as though he were merely stating an ordinary fact.
He glanced at the two bodyguards.
“Take your Young Master Wang outside. Then clean the blood off the floor.”
The two burly men exchanged glances.
One dragged the paralysed Wang Xing’an out of the room.
The other wiped the bloodstains from the floor.
Outside the ward.
Hospital security personnel, the hospital director, and several others had already gathered.
After reviewing the surveillance footage frame by frame, they realised one of the people involved was a Spirit Reader.
None of them dared enter.
“Young Master Wang!”
“Young Master Wang, are you alright?”
Director Tian and a deputy director hurried over as Wang Xing’an was carried outside.
“I won’t die.”
Wang Xing’an’s expression was ice cold.
Among anyone with even a little status in Kyoto Base City, everyone knew of its notorious young elites.
Wang Xing’an was one of the most infamous.
As the director of a major hospital, Director Tian naturally recognised many influential figures from every profession, including Wang Xing’an.
“Young Master, what do we do?” the two bodyguards asked.
“Who among the Special Operations commanders in Kyoto Base City and its eight satellite cities doesn’t know me? Li Dong, the commander of Tianjin City’s Special Operations Unit, has even shared drinks with me before.”
A trace of madness appeared in Wang Xing’an’s eyes.
“He’ll arrive immediately, and he’ll report this straight to the Wang family.”
“That man’s unbelievably arrogant.”
“He makes even me look modest.”
…
A red disc shaped fighter had already arrived above Tianjin City.
Inside the cabin.
Jia Yi sat upright in a black Zhongshan suit, his back perfectly straight.
“Mr Jia, we’ll be arriving in Tianjin City shortly. Luo Feng is currently at Tianjin City’s First People’s Hospital.”
A bespectacled middle aged man beside him smiled.
“Good.”
“Judging by how many Mu Ya Crystals Luo Feng obtained this time, we’ll consider it a success if we can obtain even one from him.”
Jia Yi nodded.
“Remember, when we get there, only I will speak. None of you are to interrupt.”
“Luo Feng’s growth is simply astonishing.”
“During the Battle of Mist Island, he was already comparable to the Third Speaker.”
“And he’s only twenty one years old.”
Jia Yi’s voice became solemn.
“Perhaps one day he’ll become someone like Hong or Thunder God, an existence no one can shake.”
Hong.
Thunder God.
Those two possessed personal power that stood above even entire nations.
Even the world’s five great powers treated them with the utmost respect.
Their strength alone demanded it.
Considering Luo Feng’s rate of progress, having reached the level of the Third Speaker within just a few years, it would hardly be surprising if he eventually equalled Hong and Thunder God.
There was simply no helping it.
Luo Feng was too young.
His potential was simply too terrifying.
“Mr Jia, we’ve reached the hospital. Hmm? Why are there police vehicles below?”
“We’re going down.”
Jia Yi replied coldly.
Meanwhile, in the Wang family residence in Kyoto Base City.
“Is the head of security an idiot?”
An elegantly dressed bald old man roared like a lion.
“Hasn’t he even seen Luo Feng’s photograph? Tianjin City’s Special Operations Unit reported the incident, and he still didn’t stop them!”
“Father.”
The middle aged man beside him hurriedly explained.
“Luo Feng is a Council Member. You know that information such as the photographs of Council Members is classified. Very few people have access to it. Old Li from Security has seen Luo Feng’s photograph before, but he’s never met him in person. Recognising him immediately from the surveillance footage sent from Tianjin City wasn’t easy.”
“Get lost!”
“Stop making excuses!”
“Call Xing’an immediately!”
“Hasn’t he already caused enough trouble?”
“Luo Feng!”
“He’s comparable to the Third Speaker.”
“Can our Wang family afford to offend someone like that?”
The Wang family patriarch had completely lost his usual composure.
He was consumed with fury.
After all, Luo Feng was a supreme powerhouse on the level of the Third Speaker.
Even nations treated such people with the utmost respect.
What was a single family by comparison?
Although the HR Alliance retained several Council Members, they were merely honoured guests.
Even the HR Alliance would never casually provoke an ordinary Council Member, let alone someone at Luo Feng’s level.
At Tianjin City’s First People’s Hospital.
Inside the deluxe ward.
The Tang family and Luo Feng’s family remained inside.
Outside, a large number of heavily armed Special Operations police had already surrounded the area.
“Quite a commotion.”
Luo Hua looked outside.
“Brother, a lot of police have arrived.”
“Don’t worry.”
Luo Feng took out his phone.
“Hello, you’ve already reached the hospital? Haha, yes, I’m here. See all those police? I’m right in the middle of them. Haha… it’s nothing. I just dealt with a little scumbag. Alright, come over.”
Outside the ward.
“Team One in position.”
“Team Two in position.”
“Team Three in position.”
Listening to the reports over the radio, Special Operations Commander Li Dong said,
“The target is a Spirit Reader. Everyone must follow the plan precisely. Do not underestimate him. We must capture him in one operation.”
“And do not harm any innocent people inside the ward.”
“Understood.”
“Understood.”
“Understood.”
Li Dong nodded.
As Tianjin City’s elite Special Operations Unit, they had specialised plans for dealing with powerful martial artists.
Nearby, Wang Xing’an lay on a chair supported by others, his eyes gleaming as he watched everything unfold.
“Hmm?”
Li Dong suddenly took a phone from his pocket.
The moment he saw the number, his face changed dramatically.
“Yes, Chief!”
He immediately stood perfectly straight.
“Yes!”
“Understood!”
“Understood!”
After hanging up, Li Dong immediately spoke into his radio.
“Withdraw. Everyone withdraw.”
The Special Operations officers, who had already taken up their positions, withdrew in confusion.
Then, following Li Dong’s orders, they quickly formed neat ranks to receive an important guest.
“Li Dong, what’s happening?”
Wang Xing’an shouted from his chair.
“Shut up!”
Li Dong glared at him.
“Chief Jia is here.”
“Jia Yi?”
Wang Xing’an was visibly shocked.
The Special Operations officers formed two lines along either side of the corridor, standing ramrod straight.
From the far end of the corridor, a lean middle aged man in a Zhongshan suit walked forward, accompanied by two attendants.
The insignia on the shoulders of those two attendants caused every police officer present to stand even straighter.
They were Army Generals.
Two full generals acting as attendants.
Just what sort of leader had arrived?
“Great Aunt, you should rest properly. Dad, Mum, stay here with Great Aunt for now. I need to go outside for a moment.”
As the voice sounded from inside the ward, a young man dressed in black casual clothes stepped out.
The corridor fell completely silent.
The Special Operations officers, the hospital director, and Wang Xing’an, lying on his chair, all remained silent.
The police stood in two orderly lines along both sides of the corridor.
Down the centre.
Jia Yi walked towards Luo Feng.
Luo Feng stepped out of the ward and walked directly towards him.
“Councillor Jia.”
Luo Feng smiled as he approached.
“Councillor Luo.”
Jia Yi smiled as well.
The two men shook hands warmly.
Not a single person around them uttered a word.
Only Wang Xing’an’s face turned deathly pale.
