As he stroked the blood red blade fragment, Luo Feng’s heart trembled with excitement and tension. It was impossible not to be tense. It was like a beggar suddenly discovering dozens of piles of gold, each as tall as two people, hidden inside an abandoned factory. The shock was utterly overwhelming.
Just a tiny amount of force was enough to cut through SS grade combat boot material. That alone was enough to drive anyone on Earth mad.
“Phew.”
“Calm down.”
Only after remaining in that feverish state for quite some time did Luo Feng gradually regain his composure and begin thinking rationally about the matter.
“Obviously, this is only a blade fragment.”
“I’m a Spirit Reader. I can control it with my spiritual force and use it like a flying knife to kill enemies. However, for Thunder God and Hong, the attraction of this blade fragment is nowhere near as incredible as I first imagined.”
Now that he had calmed down, Luo Feng understood.
“Hong and Thunder God are both martial artists. Hong uses a spear, while Thunder God uses a sabre. Even if they possessed this blade fragment, they wouldn’t be able to use it.”
“Forge it into a weapon? With such an extraordinary material, melting it down would probably be incredibly difficult.”
Although Luo Feng did not know much about the blood red blade fragment in his hand, after only a short time with it he was certain that it was a fragment of an unimaginably terrifying weapon. How could such a weapon fragment possibly be unable to withstand extreme temperatures, whether high or low? Even if Hong or Thunder God obtained it, they would still struggle to use it in combat.
Fragments like this could only be controlled through spiritual force by a Spirit Reader.
“No matter what, until I have absolute confidence in protecting myself, I shouldn’t use this blade fragment.”
Luo Feng made his decision instantly.
“From today onwards, I’ll keep this blade fragment on me at all times. Under normal circumstances, I’ll never take it out. Only if I’m forced into a desperate situation will I use it to kill. And once I do, I must make sure the enemy dies.”
In his heart, Luo Feng had already regarded the blade fragment as his ultimate trump card.
After all, even when using the Mountain Drilling Awl with full power, it still required considerable effort to pierce SS grade combat armour. Clearly, the blade fragment was even more powerful.
“Go.”
With a thought, Luo Feng wrapped the blade fragment in his spiritual force. At the same time, he removed his left combat boot. Both the left boot and the damaged right boot floated in mid air under the control of his spiritual force.
“Break.”
Controlled by his spiritual force, the blade fragment became a streak of blood red light.
Puff. Puff. Puff.
With several faint sounds, the two SS grade combat boots were rapidly sliced apart as the blood red streak darted back and forth. When Luo Feng finally stopped, both boots had been cut into countless pieces, which fell from the air.
“What incredible power.”
“And it’s unbelievably fast as well. It’s clearly travelling at more than ten times the speed of sound, yet there’s no sonic boom.”
Luo Feng inhaled sharply.
Ordinary Wargods could swing weapons weighing hundreds of kilograms at several times the speed of sound.
As for Luo Feng, a first level Planetary Spirit Reader, controlling a blade fragment weighing over a tonne with spiritual force, such speed was perfectly normal. However, by all logic, it should still have been slower than light throwing blades or flying knives.
Yet the experiment revealed something astonishing.
Even while travelling at more than ten times the speed of sound, the blade fragment produced no sonic boom whatsoever.
Before the blade fragment, even the air itself seemed to be effortlessly sliced apart. The air resistance was astonishingly small. Normally, the faster an object travelled, the greater the air resistance became. Yet despite its incredible speed, the blade fragment encountered almost none, allowing it to fly only slightly slower than Luo Feng’s much lighter flying knives.
“The air resistance is so low. If someone wielded a sabre made from this material, the speed of their swings would probably increase several fold.”
Luo Feng liked the blade fragment even more.
His gaze shifted to the black combat suit covering his body.
“The Black God Set.”
“The Black God Set has always been famous for its incredible defence and extraordinary toughness. I wonder if this blade fragment can cut through it.”
The thought immediately took hold and refused to leave.
With another thought, his black hand rapidly expanded, extending to a length of over three metres.
The blood red blade fragment floated nearby.
“Which is stronger, the blade fragment’s attack or the Black God Set’s defence?”
Luo Feng’s eyes gleamed.
“Go.”
With a single thought, the blood red blade fragment accelerated instantly, becoming a streak of crimson light.
Because of its unique manufacturing method and internal structure, the air resistance it experienced was unbelievably low. One could barely hear the faintest whisper of wind before the crimson streak struck the thumb of the giant black hand.
Pfft.
It felt as though it were cutting through a tree root, while countless strands of waterweed wrapped tightly around the blade fragment. Advancing was obviously extremely difficult.
Pfft.
Only after immense effort did the blade fragment finally slice all the way through.
The severed black thumb immediately flowed like liquid, reconnecting seamlessly with the giant black hand until no trace of damage remained.
“It… it really cut through it?”
“My God.”
Luo Feng was overwhelmed with joy.
He had always known that the Black God Set’s defence had limits. It could not possibly weaken every attack by ninety percent forever.
Yet as only a first level Planetary Spirit Reader, using this mysterious blade fragment, he had actually managed to cut through the Black God Set.
Although it lasted for only an instant before the suit completely restored itself, Luo Feng remembered every detail perfectly.
“What a terrifying weapon. Still, the Black God Set’s defence is equally incredible. It cuts through SS grade material like tofu, yet slicing through the Black God Set is extremely difficult. No wonder even my Mountain Drilling Awl couldn’t penetrate it at full power.”
Luo Feng felt delighted.
He knew that from this day onwards, if it truly came down to a fight to the death, the Third Speaker, Fourth Speaker, and Fifth Speaker would almost certainly die if they faced him.
However, when facing Thunder God or Hong, he still had little confidence.
“I found Mu Ya Crystals underground, and now I’ve found this blade fragment.”
A thought suddenly struck him.
“Could there be other treasures as well? Perhaps more blade fragments?”
Once the idea appeared, Luo Feng first apologised to Xu Xin for abruptly ending their call earlier, then continued exploring.
Around 15,600 metres beneath the ground, deep within the thick rock strata.
“Target locked.”
“Hull fragment acquired.”
“Changing guidance pattern. Commencing retrieval.”
Countless strange ripples, invisible to both the naked eye and any instrument, subtly changed. From deep beneath the earth, they travelled almost perfectly in a straight line, passing through countless layers of rock until they reached Luo Feng, who was searching underground.
These ripples, undetectable by sight, instruments, or even spiritual force, entered Luo Feng’s sea of consciousness directly.
…
Luo Feng continued descending deeper underground.
“Hm?”
He looked at his communications watch.
Someone was calling.
“Hello.”
“Luo Feng, it’s me, Liu He. How’s your search going? Have you found any Mu Ya Crystals? Quite a few of the councillors are searching as well, but none of them have found a single one.”
Liu He sounded unwilling to give up.
“I haven’t found any either. Finding these things depends entirely on luck.”
Luo Feng smiled.
“Right. I’ve discussed it with the others. We’ll search for another six hours. If we still don’t find anything, we’ll head back. Then we’ll return together.”
“Alright.”
Luo Feng ended the call with a smile.
“I’ve searched for so long without finding any other blade fragments.”
He continued descending.
“Let’s keep searching deeper underground. After all this time, with changing seas, shifting continents, and tectonic movement, a weapon that dense has probably sunk much deeper.”
Luo Feng continued heading downwards.
By now, he had already descended beyond nine thousand metres.
Nine thousand metres.
Ten thousand.
Eleven thousand.
Twelve thousand.
He continued descending.
Finally.
Fifteen thousand metres.
“Target has arrived.”
“Cloaked hatch, closing.”
Deep underground, beneath countless layers of rock, one particularly massive section of stone suddenly began trembling and writhing.
Then, with a soft sound, as though a bubble had burst, the enormous rock simply vanished into nothingness.
Where it had once been stood a half open hatch, covered in dust.
…
Luo Feng continued wandering aimlessly through the depths.
Somehow, he simply felt that if there really were more blade fragments, they would be deep underground.
“I’ll go this way.”
It was nothing more than a whim. As he descended, he casually chose a direction.
Yet something strange happened.
Although Luo Feng believed he was choosing his route at random, he was steadily drawing closer and closer to the ancient hatch.
Until finally…
Boom.
He smashed through a layer of shattered rock.
Turning his head, although surrounded by darkness, his Planetary level eyesight still allowed him to notice what appeared to be metal inside a narrow crevice nearby.
“Hm?”
Using his spiritual force, Luo Feng immediately forced apart the surrounding rock, creating a passage wide enough for two people to walk side by side.
At the end of the passage stood a strange silver white metal door covered in dust.
It resembled the hatch of an intelligent fighter aircraft and was only half closed.
“What is this?”
“A door?”
Luo Feng was startled.
A dusty door over ten thousand metres beneath the earth?
“Could this be an ancient civilisation ruin that has never been discovered on Earth?”
He was excited.
Many ancient civilisation ruins had already been discovered on Earth. Both Hong and Thunder God had inherited advanced knowledge from such ruins. That was probably one of the reasons they were so much stronger than everyone else.
“What kind of door is this?”
With a thought, the Soaring Shuttle separated into eighteen blades.
The eighteen blades became a hazy cloud of blade light, using their flat sides to strike the surrounding rock instead of their edges.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
The rock immediately fractured, with large chunks falling away to reveal more of the same silver white metal beneath.
“There could be danger inside this ancient civilisation ruin.”
Luo Feng behaved like an extremely cautious monkey approaching a peach, eager to eat it yet fearful of hidden traps.
Step by step, he advanced until he was about twenty metres away.
“I’ll inspect it with my spiritual force.”
Remaining twenty metres from the hatch, Luo Feng carefully guided his spiritual force through it, intending to see what lay inside.
“Th… that’s…”
Luo Feng froze.
A moment later, his eyes became bloodshot with overwhelming excitement.
