At Tiannan Airport, Lu Shuixian and the others were already growing impatient.
Meanwhile, on the other side, a super extended Rolls Royce Phantom was weaving through the city.
“No rush. Take your time,” Luo Chen said to Fei Long from inside the cabin.
The drive from Xinzhou to Tiannan Airport would take less than ten hours via the motorway, but Luo Chen deliberately avoided it. Instead, he had Fei Long take the regular routes, and now they had driven straight into the city centre. It was rush hour, and the traffic ahead was an absolute mess.
The constant stop and go traffic was starting to anger Fei Long.
“Pull over there for a bit. Let us get something to drink and wait for the rush hour to pass,” Luo Chen said, looking at the dense wall of cars ahead.
Fei Long nodded and eventually parked the car on a commercial street, leaving it outside before walking into a cafe with Luo Chen. Naturally, such a car parked by the roadside attracted a crowd of onlookers, and many even came to take photos. Luo Chen and Fei Long paid no mind to this. They ordered some coffee and snacks and sat in a private room to enjoy them at their leisure.
They could see the outside situation through the glass anyway. However, they had only been sitting for about half an hour when an electric scooter scraped against the luxurious Rolls Royce Phantom with a harsh scratch.
It was rush hour, so the roads were packed with cars, and the cycle lanes were full of electric scooters. Luo Chen’s car, parked by the roadside, was naturally easy to scrape. Fei Long, who had been enjoying his coffee, turned his head and saw this, immediately preparing to stand up.
But before Fei Long could rise, a few people suddenly dashed out from nowhere and blocked the person on the electric scooter.
The person on the scooter was an old man who looked to be in his fifties. He was thin and wiry, wearing a navy blue waistcoat. On the back of the scooter sat a girl of seventeen or eighteen, who also looked exceptionally thin. The four people who had rushed out consisted of two men and two women. The men were dressed in designer clothes, while the women were covered in designer labels and heavily made up in a glamorous style.
The leading man pulled out a Rolls Royce car key, his face dark, and walked straight to the side of Luo Chen’s car to take a look. He then tossed the key directly onto the bonnet.
“Old man, tell me, how are we going to settle this?” the leading man said. His name was Tang Jian, a well known local hooligan with some family background. The old man clearly had not expected the car owner to appear so soon after scraping the vehicle, and his expression immediately changed.
Because even though he was not very familiar with cars, seeing the little golden Spirit of Ecstasy on the bonnet of the Rolls Royce told him this was absolutely a luxury vehicle. The old man’s expression instantly shifted.
“I am sorry, I really did not mean to do it,” the old man apologised profusely.
“Cut the crap,” Tang Jian said coldly. “Should I call the police, or are you going to pay for the damages?”
“Do not even think about running away. I just recorded a video of you on my phone,” a woman nearby said smugly.
“How much do you want?” The old man already had a rough idea in his mind. He was afraid he would have to pay a lot of money today.
“Do you know what car this is?” Tang Jian asked deliberately. In reality, he could only tell it was a Rolls Royce. After all, there was only one super extended Rolls Royce Phantom in the whole of Asia. Let alone him, even some wealthy tycoons would not recognise it. This was specially customised abroad by Master Zhang.
“I do not know,” the old man shook his head with a panicked expression, then pulled out a folded handkerchief. He opened it to reveal a large wad of Renminbi. It added up to over two thousand.
“Young master, I know this car must be quite expensive, so I will not say much more. After all, this is my fault. If compensation is needed, please take all this money,” the old man said in a low voice.
“Heh, are you fucking kidding me?” Tang Jian roared. “Calling yourself an old man, do you think you are living in ancient times? This is a Rolls Royce. You scratched such a long mark, and the repair costs will be at least five hundred thousand! You offer me this pitiful amount, are you trying to fob off a beggar?”
Seeing this situation through the glass, Fei Long immediately laughed, though it was a cold laugh. Goodness, he had seen people staging accidents for compensation, but he had never seen someone scamming others like this. Fei Long was about to stand up, but just as he rose, Luo Chen reached out and pressed him back down.
“Things are not that simple. That old man is no ordinary person,” Luo Chen said, waving his hand at Fei Long. Hearing this, Fei Long understood and sat back down.
Outside the window, the old man’s face drastically changed in fear upon hearing that figure. A crowd of onlookers had gathered around, pointing and whispering.
“But I do not have that much money,” the old man said anxiously.
Tang Jian glanced at the old man and realised he was probably indeed the kind of person who had no money. So he spoke up.
“Tell you what, I am not an unreasonable person, but this is a Rolls Royce. It is so long, and everyone should know the price is certainly not cheap. I will not make you pay five hundred thousand. Let us say fifty thousand. Pay me fifty thousand and I will not say another word.”
Fifty thousand? Hearing this, the old man was stunned again. He truly did not have that much money and simply could not produce it. The money wrapped in the handkerchief was genuinely all he had, and it was extremely important to him. Taking it out to pay compensation was already very difficult for him.
“Young master, look at me…” “Say no more. This car is indeed very expensive. Asking you to pay fifty thousand is already very kind of him,” the crowd of onlookers chimed in. “To put it bluntly, if it were anyone else, they would have called the police straight away. Once the police arrive and assess the damage, you might have to pay much more than fifty thousand.” “Although this young man speaks a bit arrogantly, he is really not making things difficult for you. If it were someone else, how could fifty thousand be enough?”
“Are you going to pay the money, or should I call the police?” one of the women on Tang Jian’s side asked.
“Do not call the police, I beg you, please do not call the police,” the old man pleaded. He seemed extremely sensitive to the idea of calling the police, and panic set in the moment he heard it.
“This is getting interesting,” Luo Chen said, sitting by the window and watching everything outside.
After the old man said this, Tang Jian spoke up again. “Then pay the money. Fifty thousand, that is the absolute minimum.”
“But young master, I really do not have that much money,” the old man said anxiously once more.
“You are fucking unreasonable,” Tang Jian snapped. “I have already compromised so much. If you do not pay, I will call the police. You old fool, can you not see…”
“You are not allowed to bully my grandpa,” the girl, who had been sitting on the back seat, got off the electric scooter and stepped in front of the old man to shield him.
“Get lost!” Tang Jian raised his hand and swung a slap towards the girl.
