This scene shook everyone to their core. This was the Heavenly Feather Holy Lord, a descendant of a Supreme Venerable, a venerable figure of his era, an unparalleled existence. Even as a corpse spirit, he was not someone ordinary people could contend with. Yet a single drop of blood had pierced straight through his body and sent him crashing into the stone mountain!
Ye Chu was equally stunned. He could clearly sense that the power contained in that drop of blood was merely at the Innate Realm. Such power should not even be able to ruffle a single hair on the Heavenly Feather Holy Lord’s head. Yet now it had pierced right through him. This was far too bizarre. It had to be the miraculous nature of that blood!
While everyone was still reeling from the shock, the Heavenly Feather Prince’s furious voice suddenly rang out. “You dare destroy my Holy Lord’s body? You are courting death!”
The Heavenly Feather Prince glared with rage. This was his ancestor, a former Holy Lord of the Heavenly Feather Clan. In the clan sect he held the highest status and was revered by all. Yet now his body had been desecrated. This was something he could never accept.
Ou Yi glanced at the Heavenly Feather Prince, spat out the word “lunatic” with contempt, and then ignored him completely.
“Kill him!” The Heavenly Feather Prince shouted to the powerhouses beside him. Those powerhouses also had faces dark with fury. Looking at the pierced Heavenly Feather Holy Lord, they hated Ou Yi to the bone. If they could not even protect their Holy Lord’s body, what face did they have left to face their clansmen or their ancestral Supreme Venerable?
One of the powerhouses struck out with a palm towards Ou Yi, the strike whistling through the air. Ou Yi did not even look. With a casual wave of his arm, the Heavenly Feather Holy Lord, whom he had just pierced, flew out and blocked the attack.
The Heavenly Feather Holy Lord took the blow without budging an inch, but that powerhouse was sent flying backwards.
“You lot actually dare to try and kill me in the Ancient Nightmare Forbidden Land?” Ou Yi looked at the Heavenly Feather Prince with disdain. He kicked the Heavenly Feather Holy Lord squarely in the backside, sending him flying towards the prince. “Here, take this trash back!”
The Heavenly Feather Prince bared his teeth in grief and rage. His whole body trembled, his fists clenched tightly. His clan’s Holy Lord had been kicked in the backside and called trash. This was an immense humiliation. The Heavenly Feather Prince roared and howled, his anger boiling over. He could not tolerate such an insult.
Ou Yi paid no further attention to him. His gaze returned to the mirror. After a moment he looked at Ye Chu and said, “Let’s go. This place is not somewhere you should be.”
Ye Chu looked around at the myriad beasts and at the overwhelming heaven-and-earth qi pouring down from above. He had no idea how to leave. “I need to find something. Otherwise, before I even reach the Ruo Shui family, I fear I will already have lost myself and died!”
“Hmm?” Ou Yi looked at Ye Chu in puzzlement.
“His intent has already entered my primal spirit, and it is growing stronger every moment. I cannot hold on much longer.” Ye Chu said to Ou Yi.
Ou Yi’s face showed surprise and disbelief. When they had descended the mountain, the old madman had said the intent posed no major threat yet. How could so little time have passed, and already Ye Chu was on the verge of collapse?
“The Ancient Nightmare has what you need?” Ou Yi asked curiously.
“The ancestor of the Ye family once obtained a secret art in the Ancient Nightmare. Rumour has it that it can suppress the intent of a Supreme Venerable. I want to see it for myself. This is my only chance to save my life.” Ye Chu said directly to Ou Yi.
Ou Yi nodded without saying much more. He simply told Ye Chu, “Follow me.”
Ye Chu followed behind Ou Yi. Ou Yi walked steadily forward. Ahead lay many dried corpses, each far stronger than those outside. The weakest among them probably had strength at the Primal Spirit Realm or above, while the strongest might even surpass great cultivators. Yet as Ou Yi advanced, these dried corpses actually parted ways automatically, not attacking anyone at all.
Having witnessed Ou Yi’s mysterious power, the others were no longer surprised. Seeing him clear the path, the whole group followed behind him.
The Heavenly Feather Prince clenched his fists tightly, his eyes bloodshot. He carefully cradled the Heavenly Feather Holy Lord in his arms.
Ou Yi led Ye Chu forward, but the direction they were heading made Ye Chu’s eyes widen. Ou Yi was walking straight towards the altar. He was actually bringing Ye Chu directly into the centre of the altar.
Ou Yi’s actions shocked everyone else as well. Everyone knew how terrifying the altar was, and they knew there were treasures within it. Yet no one had dared set foot inside. But now this young man was leading people straight in.
Ji Die watched Ye Chu and Ou Yi walk unimpeded into the altar. In the end she gritted her teeth and followed.
Seeing someone take the lead, the others could not hold back. One by one they followed inside.
Upon entering the altar, Ye Chu immediately saw divine dragons carved deep within. The dragons coiled and danced, carved everywhere, gathering an immense momentum. This momentum radiated world-shaking majesty, and terrifying heaven-and-earth qi flowed through it. The moment Ye Chu stepped in, he felt an incomparably profound power.
“Mystic stones!”
As the group stepped inside, their gazes fell upon the altar. They discovered that many of the patterns piled on the altar were made of mystic stones. These mystic stones were entwined with seven colours, clearly all of excellent quality.
Everyone’s eyes burned with heat as they stared fixedly at these mystic stones. Anyone could see that obtaining them would greatly boost their strength. Yet not a single person dared to touch them lightly.
“Can we take these?” Ye Chu also felt intense desire. His eyes blazed as he stared at the mystic stones and asked Ou Yi.
“These are the foundation that凝聚 the grand formation. They are the core where the momentum of heaven and earth converges. Touch them and you die!” Ou Yi said to Ye Chu.
Ye Chu did not doubt Ou Yi’s words in the slightest. He forcibly suppressed the urge to pry one loose and followed Ou Yi step by step as they climbed the towering altar that reached straight into the clouds.
The altar was vast, but the carved divine dragons grew more and more numerous. Towards the end Ye Chu felt as though these carved dragons had come to life, as if with a single blink they would start moving.
Finally they reached a certain point. Ye Chu clearly saw the carved divine dragons soaring and flying with life. The dragons transformed into an unparalleled grand formation. The formation shifted and trapped Ye Chu and the group within it.
Ou Yi’s expression also grew solemn. He stared at the coiling divine dragons flying around them and shouted, “Ou Yi says: let there be hierarchy!”
With that shout, the soaring divine dragons paused. They all fell back down, imprinting themselves onto the altar and turning back into carvings. The altar was enormous. From where Ye Chu stood, he could not see its end with a single glance.
Looking at the endless chain of divine dragons, Ye Chu glanced at Ou Yi and noticed that Ou Yi’s face had also turned somewhat pale.
“Are you alright?” Ye Chu asked Ou Yi.
Ou Yi shook his head, motioning for Ye Chu to follow. He led Ye Chu to one of the divine dragons on the altar. The dragon’s eyes were made of mystic stone. The mystic stone had halos flowing within it, radiant and dazzling. Ye Chu knew this was a top-grade mystic stone.
But what made Ye Chu’s eyes widen in shock was that Ou Yi actually reached out and began prying at the mystic stone.
“Didn’t you say that touching the mystic stones means death?” Ye Chu asked in alarm.
“That applies to you lot! I am different from you!” When Ou Yi said this, his expression was filled with sorrow.
He forcibly pried the mystic stone loose. The divine dragon instantly boiled with rage and lunged towards Ou Yi, intending to pierce through his body. Yet the moment it touched Ou Yi’s body, it stopped abruptly, crashed heavily to the ground, and turned into useless rubble.
But this action seemed to provoke Ou Yi. Ye Chu witnessed something he had never seen before. Ou Yi’s usually neatly combed hair suddenly flew wildly. His entire body thrashed about, his face twisted in ferocity. The mirror in his hand was hurled forward with savage force.
“Come on! Why won’t you come? Come at me!” Ou Yi seemed to have gone mad, roaring continuously. Even Ye Chu was shaken by the sight. The mirror was Ou Yi’s life. Yet he had actually thrown it.
Watching Ou Yi on the verge of complete madness, Ye Chu’s expression also changed drastically. He stared as Ou Yi, in his frenzy, slammed his head against the altar.
