The crowd gazed at the woman stepping out of the lake. She was breathtakingly beautiful, looking exactly like a maiden who had stepped out of a painting.
Her form was as fleeting as a startled swan and as graceful as a gliding dragon. She seemed like a light cloud veiling the moon, and drifted like swirling snow in a flowing wind. Her posture was extraordinarily beautiful, bright and elegant, her demeanour tranquil and her figure graceful. Her expressions were gentle and charming, beyond the power of words to describe. Such beauty was truly stunning, especially as she stepped out of the water at this moment, truly making people think she was a goddess of the lake.
“Get lost!” Ye Chu stared at Lin Shixin as she stepped out of the lake, the coldness in his eyes deepening. Unwilling to entangle with these people any longer, he just wanted them to get out of his sight immediately.
Ye Chu’s angry shout made the crowd, who were still marvelling at Lin Shixin’s beauty, glare at him. They snapped out of their daze over her beauty. Seeing such a goddess even once was a blessing, and they dared not harbour too many thoughts.
She might have just appeared here and would leave soon. Killing Ye Chu right now was the right path. The crowd surged forward aggressively, each pushing their power to the limit and pressing towards Ye Chu with their aura.
Seeing this, Ye Chu was also enraged. He held nothing back, preparing to unleash his full aura. The green lotus flashed on his forehead as he prepared to launch his strongest attack to obliterate them all.
But before Ye Chu could make a move, he saw Lin Shixin walking across the waves. Her posture was elegant, and she walked forward step by step, drawing the gaze of everyone present.
The others were also extremely excited. They had originally thought they could only catch a distant glimpse of the goddess, yet she was slowly approaching them. Could it be that they would actually have some interaction with her?
As Lin Shixin walked closer, they found her beauty even more stunning. The crowd felt suddenly nervous, and those who were about to attack Ye Chu paused.
Ye Jingyun looked at Lin Shixin strangely, then glanced at Ye Chu, a playful arc forming at the corner of her mouth.
“Interesting!”
As Lin Shixin approached, what met the crowd’s eyes was a pair of clear, rippling eyes like tranquil green waves. Her entire being exuded a shocking, absolute beauty. Her skin was as fair as snow and as smooth as jade, her cherry lips exquisitely shaped, and her delicate nose perfectly sculpted. Every inch of her was breathtakingly beautiful. Several sovereigns hurried forward to greet her, preparing to say something.
But before they could utter a word, Lin Shixin pressed her palm down. If these people could not withstand a single palm strike from her, which had easily subdued the ancient thousand year fish bird, what qualification did they have to fight her? In an instant, they were all suppressed and forced to their knees. Each felt as though a massive mountain was pressing down on them, making their faces pale and their bodies tremble. They could not even stand up, let alone find the courage to speak.
They looked at Lin Shixin in terror, wondering why this goddess like figure was attacking them. How could someone of her stature dirty her hands for the likes of them?
But they soon found the answer. The spotless woman walked up to Ye Chu, her beautiful eyes rippling with an indescribable charm. “I thought you would avoid me again this time!”
“Ah…” Ye Chu was surprised by her words. He recalled that time at the Tianxiao Pavilion and wondered if she had discovered him back then.
Although Ye Chu had not intended to avoid her last time, he had to admit that he had been resisting seeing her all these years. He let out a soft sigh and said gently, “I am sorry!”
Seeing Ye Chu like this, Lin Shixin broke into a bright smile. Her smile was captivating enough to ruin cities and topple kingdoms, leaving everyone utterly mesmerised. Even the many cultivators who were being suppressed by her felt the pressure vanish instantly.
“It is fine! I will not blame you!” Lin Shixin’s voice was like the music of silk and bamboo, so light and pleasant.
Lin Shixin looked at Ye Chu. Compared to his past frivolity, he now had a bit more resolve. Although he still retained a touch of cynicism, his casual demeanour now held a calm and composed detachment. It seemed he had changed a lot over the years.
“Are you still blaming me?” Lin Shixin gently reached out and touched Ye Chu’s face. This sight made many people glare with anger, wishing they could devour Ye Chu alive. To have such a perfect, fair hand like mutton fat jade tainted by him was simply a desecration.
As the warm, soft palm covered his face, a familiar feeling surged from the depths of his soul. Ye Chu knew this was left behind by the previous owner of his body. Back then, Lin Shixin loved to pat his head and touch his face, loved to hold his arm, and doted on him to the extreme.
Lin Shixin’s deep affection in the past had once greatly delighted Ye Chu’s grandmother. But precisely because of this, when Ye Chu did something utterly unworthy of her love, it angered his grandmother so much that she vomited blood. She threw him straight back to Yao City and ignored him completely.
“I am sorry!” Ye Chu continued, not knowing what else to say. He knew that everything back then had broken Lin Shixin’s heart. He was well aware that, given her deep affection for him, she would not have ignored him for years or watched him be thrown out of Yao City and nearly killed if she had not been heartbroken to the extreme.
Lin Shixin looked completely normal at this moment, exactly the same as before, but Ye Chu knew she was deliberately putting on an act.
Sure enough, after Ye Chu said this, the fingers touching his face suddenly stopped. She slowly withdrew her hand and looked at Ye Chu with complex eyes.
Lin Shixin had not expected Ye Chu to bring it up himself. She certainly never expected him to say sorry, as he never knew the meaning of the word. It seemed Ye Chu had truly changed. In the past, even if he committed heinous crimes, he would never apologise.
“When I was very young, my sister took me everywhere and doted on me, giving me the best of everything. Once, I saw a demonic beast and thought it was cute, so I wanted it. My sister went to great lengths to capture it for me. That time, to seal the beast, she was scratched by its claws and nearly lost her life.” Pausing here, Lin Shixin continued, “That was when I felt I owed her an apology.”
Ye Chu knew Lin Shixin and his mother had a very close relationship, but he did not know about this incident.
“Back then, my sister told me that one should never say sorry to family. Because you are their very life!” Lin Shixin looked at Ye Chu and said, “You are my sister’s child, so I will accept this apology!”
After saying this, Lin Shixin’s smile was sweet and dazzlingly beautiful.
“Thank you!” Ye Chu smiled too. Looking at this elegant woman, all his complex emotions were swept away in this moment.
Lin Shixin’s hand touched Ye Chu’s face once more as she gazed at the young man who had grown up before her. Perhaps even she had never imagined he would reach this day.
Lin Shixin could not imagine what kind of nirvana Ye Chu had gone through to reach this point. She understood him better than anyone else. She had originally planned to guard him for the rest of his life, never expecting him to be so different now.
Lin Shixin suddenly felt a pang of heartache, wondering how much hardship he had endured. Thinking of her sister’s request before she left, she felt a wave of self reproach.
