“Search!” the blonde woman, Vina, ordered.
“Yes.”
In front of the black suited old man, a huge virtual map immediately appeared. A red dot at the centre of the map marked Li Wei’s location. Within a hundred mile radius of Li Wei, six light points appeared.
“Within a hundred miles, there are a total of six high level general warriors.”
“Display each person’s information and their distance to Li Wei,” Li Yao ordered coldly.
Beep beep.
The virtual screen flickered slightly, and a large amount of information appeared on both sides.
“Six high level general warriors. Apart from the two who are Li Wei’s bodyguards, the other four are all within City 023?” Li Yao’s face turned ugly. In other words, he only had four suspects left, since the other two were already dead.
“And these four, the nearest one is still twenty kilometres away.”
With the speed of a high level general warrior, and considering the time since the search was ordered, about one minute, it was impossible for them to have reached twenty kilometres away.
“Yao! Who exactly killed A Wei?” the blonde woman asked. Her Mandarin was slightly awkward, but still fluent.
“Search for intermediate general warriors! And primary general warriors!” Li Yao gritted his teeth.
“How could it be intermediate and primary general warriors?” the blonde woman said anxiously. “With the strength of Caron and the other one, how could they be killed by intermediate or primary general warriors, and not even have time to send a message?”
“Shut up!” Li Yao snapped.
The blonde woman forced herself to stay silent.
“Within a hundred miles, intermediate general warriors, a total of 21,” the black suited old man replied. On the virtual map, 21 slightly lighter light points appeared.
“Primary general warriors, within a hundred miles, a total of 58.” More light points representing primary general warriors appeared on the map.
Li Yao spoke through clenched teeth. “Record all the information of these general warriors, including their distance from Li Wei. Also, search all warrior level individuals and record them as well. Send the data to me and Vina.”
“Yes.” The black suited old man bowed slightly.
Li Yao glanced at the dense cluster of light points on the map. They were packed tightly together and countless in number. Compared to general warriors, warrior level individuals were more than ten times as many. The hundreds of light points were extremely eye catching. Among them, Luo Feng was also included.
Although it was widely said that Luo Feng had the strength of a primary general warrior, his official record still listed him as a high level warrior based on his achievements.
All rankings were determined by combat records.
“Deploy satellites to film Li Wei’s location,” Vina added.
“Due to weather conditions, the filming results may not be very clear. The final analysed and enhanced footage will be sent to both of you in about half an hour,” the black suited old man said. In reality, satellite surveillance was not as mysterious or powerful as ordinary people imagined.
There were many limitations, especially weather, which had a huge impact on imaging.
“Mr. Li Yao, Madam Vina, the data has been sent. Six high level general warriors, 21 intermediate general warriors, 58 primary general warriors, and 426 warrior level individuals,” the black suited old man said.
Li Yao and Vina looked down.
On their watches, profiles and photos of each person quickly flashed past, including Luo Feng. However, as a warrior level member, he was not very noticeable.
Three minutes later.
On the grassy slope of the mountain top villa under the starlight, two dark blue flying disc shaped warplanes took off and quickly rose into the sky.
Beep.
Signal verification passed.
Only after passing signal verification did the two flying disc warplanes leave the city defence system. If they had flown out without verification, they would have been instantly destroyed by laser weapons and turned into fireballs.
Inside the cabin.
Li Yao and Vina both wore combat suits and carried their weapons. Their faces were extremely dark and grim. The pilots and six general warrior level subordinates did not dare to speak. They all knew a terrible incident had occurred. The only son of the couple known as “Vulture and Scorpion” had been killed.
These two were not ordinary people. Whether in the God of War circles or the underground alliance’s civilian world, they held enormous influence and power.
“Yao, could it have been a monster lord?” Vina frowned.
“On a highway, how could a monster lord suddenly appear? Even if there was one, how could they not even have time to send a message?” Li Yao’s facial muscles twitched. His eyes were cold and sharp. At this moment, he looked like a lone wolf that had lost everything, becoming even colder and more ruthless.
“I have already sent Wang Tong, who is in City 003, to check the scene. We will have a rough answer once he gets there,” he said.
“Mm,” Vina nodded slightly.
…
The winter night was freezing, the wind cutting like knives.
On the highway, the four corpses lay in dried dark red blood stains. Two figures, one tall and one short, were carefully examining the scene. They were Wang Tong and Li Kan, two Gods of War who had rushed from City 003 at Li Yao’s request.
Whoosh. Whoosh.
Two dark blue streaks of light flew in from the distant sky and quickly arrived above the highway, then slowly descended.
Before the warplanes had fully landed, one cabin door opened. Two figures leapt straight down from mid air. It was Li Yao and Vina.
The Vulture, the Scorpion, the Shadow Blade, and the Strong Bear. These four had worked together many times before.
God of War level experts often supported each other.
“Vulture, my condolences,” Wang Tong sighed.
“Any conclusions?” Li Yao forced himself to speak calmly, though his voice still carried anger.
Wang Tong did not mind his tone and pointed at the four corpses.
“I can only say… it looks somewhat like the methods of a spiritual念师, a spiritual force master.”
“A spiritual force master?” Li Yao and Vina both frowned.
“Of course, it could also be the enemy deliberately staging the scene to mislead us,” Wang Tong added.
At that moment, from one of the flying warplanes, several guards jumped down. From the other, five people in grey clothes carrying equipment cases also came out. Two were women, one Asian and one white man, along with an elderly white haired man.
“No one else is allowed to enter the scene,” the white haired old man ordered.
“Begin.”
The four others immediately opened their equipment cases and started a highly detailed investigation of the murder scene.
Time passed minute by minute.
Li Yao and Vina waited in silence. Wang Tong and Li Kan exchanged a glance and sighed inwardly. Vulture and Scorpion were extremely famous in the global God of War circles. Apart from beings beyond the God of War level, almost no one could suppress this couple.
With their ruthless personalities, how could they not take revenge for their son’s death?
“Sir, Madam,” the white haired old man said respectfully. “We have results. Please come and take a look.”
Everyone walked over.
A laptop was placed there, showing a simulated video. The white haired old man explained.
“The elderly warrior and the white man should have died at the same instant. The method of death is the same, both were pierced through the back of the head.”
“This middle aged warrior and Young Master Li Wei likely died at almost the same time, slightly later than the other two.”
He clicked the simulation.
A virtual reconstruction appeared.
Two streaks of light simultaneously pierced through the heads of the elderly man and the white strong man. Then the same streaks of light passed through Captain Pan Ya and Young Master Li Wei, cutting through their skulls and heads.
“Yes,” Wang Tong nodded. “I checked as well. The elderly man and the white man probably did not even react before dying. But Li Wei and the middle aged man had fear in their eyes. They saw it coming.”
The white haired old man continued.
“There are no traces of a monster lord in the surroundings.”
“Based on footprints and positioning analysis, the elderly man, the white man, and the middle aged man should have been attacking forward at the same point, ignoring the rear ambush.”
…
Li Yao and Vina crouched beside Li Wei’s body. His head had been reattached, but the shock in his eyes still remained.
“I checked. Within 30 seconds after A Wei’s death, there was no God of War within a hundred miles.”
“One minute after his death, the nearest of the four surviving high level general warriors was 23 kilometres away.”
Li Yao said in a low voice.
“So… the murderer must have hidden his true strength.”
Combat rankings are based on achievements. Some top experts may kill powerful monsters but credit their teammates, leaving themselves with low rankings.
“First possibility, the murderer is an ordinary warrior with low recorded achievements, but his real strength is at God of War level.”
“Second possibility, the murderer is a spiritual force master who hid his identity. Considering spiritual force is two levels stronger than physical strength, this person could be at primary or intermediate general warrior level. Or even a highly disguised warrior level individual.”
“Third possibility, the murderer is my enemy, a God of War level expert who did not carry a communication watch, so we cannot track him.”
Silence.
Only Li Yao spoke beside the corpse. Vina stood silently with tears in her eyes. Wang Tong and Li Kan kept their distance.
“Whoever it is, whoever killed my son, I will never let him go.”
“Announce A Wei’s death to the whole world. Let every warrior know,” Vina said through gritted teeth. “I, Vina Polenas, will use all my wealth from these years to offer a reward of 100 billion Chinese yuan. Whoever provides solid proof of the killer, the 100 billion is theirs.”
“I refuse to believe the killer has no family, no friends. As long as he tells someone, talks in his sleep, or drinks too much and reveals it, or has ever leaked a clue, someone will betray him.”
“With a 100 billion bounty, I will make him unable to sleep. I will make him afraid to even speak in his sleep. I will make him live in constant fear.”
Wang Tong and Li Kan both sucked in a cold breath.
100 billion.
This enormous bounty could even hire beings beyond the God of War level. For most king level monster corpses, the price was below this amount. This was an astronomical sum. With such wealth, one could instantly enjoy everything in the world.
Countless intelligence networks and organisations would likely hunt the killer for this reward.
