TWSBHSW Chapter 84

On the wrecked rooftop of Carrefour Supermarket stood two figures.

They were Shadow Sabre Wang Tong and Mighty Bear Li Kan.

“Wang, I never expected us to come out on the losing end this time.”

Li Kan’s deep voice rumbled like thunder.

“That Armoured Dragon had just laid its egg. Someone must have taken advantage of the battle between you and the Armoured Dragon, secretly stealing the dragon egg. That’s what drove it completely mad and sent it chasing after them.”

Wang Tong nodded.

“Yes. The supermarket is completely empty. There’s nothing left.”

They had already inspected the area after arriving.

As for the commander level monster pack, it possessed enough power to kill a beginner War God and even injure an intermediate War God.

However…

Against Wang Tong, a high level War God, the commander level monsters could only collapse in defeat.

After breaking apart the commander squad, Wang Tong and Li Kan had searched the supermarket thoroughly.

“That person really is… shameless.”

Li Kan’s voice remained low.

Wang Tong smiled.

“A little shameless indeed. To not only escape safely from a siege by commander level monsters, but also steal the dragon egg. That level of ability is at least that of an intermediate War God.”

“An intermediate War God has countless ways to make money. Why bother stealing a dragon egg?”

A dragon egg was valuable, but only relatively speaking.

Compared with an SS grade combat uniform, it was worth far less.

Even if the egg hatched, it would merely produce a young Armoured Dragon.

Once fully grown, an ordinary Armoured Dragon would generally only reach the beginner lord level.

Only through repeated battles and evolution could it continue advancing.

A child was not guaranteed to surpass its parent.

Just like the children of Hong, the world’s strongest fighter.

For them to reach Hong’s level was extraordinarily difficult.

A mature ordinary Armoured Dragon was worth roughly 3 billion Chinese dollars.

An unhatched dragon egg was rarer and therefore more valuable, but its estimated worth was only around 5 billion Chinese dollars.

Five billion was certainly a huge amount.

Yet for an intermediate War God, it was entirely possible to earn that by hunting monster lords personally.

There was no need to take advantage of someone else’s efforts.

That was why Wang Tong and Li Kan were not angry.

They simply felt the thief was shameless.

“An intermediate War God, yet he still took our prize.”

Li Kan shook his head.

“Forget it.”

Wang Tong smiled.

“The Armoured Dragon is badly wounded, and it pushed itself to the limit chasing after the thief. Its injuries are certainly worse now.”

“Our goal is to kill this high level lord Armoured Dragon. We can’t let it escape.”

“Let’s go.”

Li Kan nodded.

A beginner lord level monster was generally worth between 500 million and 3 billion.

Different species varied greatly in strength and value.

The Armoured Dragon itself was worth around 3 billion.

An intermediate lord level monster was worth between 1.5 billion and 9 billion.

A high level lord level monster was worth between 5 billion and 20 billion.

Most lord level monsters fell within these ranges.

Of course, there were always a few exceptional cases.

This high level lord Armoured Dragon was worth around 18 billion.

Unfortunately, across the entire world, aside from beings who had surpassed the War God level, only a small portion of the already rare high level War Gods possessed the strength necessary to kill it.

At the outermost edge of the suburbs of City 003, inside a room on the eighth floor of an eight storey apartment building, the four members of the Thunder Squad were gathered.

Although Wang Tong and Li Kan had advised them to leave the city and wait on the motorway for safety, everyone was curious about the battle between the two War Gods and the high level lord Armoured Dragon.

In the end, they chose to remain near the city’s edge, where they could flee at any sign of danger.

Rumble…

The roars of thousands upon thousands of monsters echoed throughout the suburbs.

“The Armoured Dragon has gone mad.”

The elderly man surnamed Liu could not help laughing.

“It has mobilised its entire horde. The whole monster population is in turmoil.”

“As expected of Mr Wang. He really pushed the Armoured Dragon to this point.”

“Exactly.”

Pan Ya, captain of the Tiger Fang Squad, nodded repeatedly.

“Shadow Sabre truly deserves his reputation.”

Although they were too far away to know what was happening within the dozens of kilometres occupied by the monster horde, the sounds alone inspired endless speculation.

“A monster uprising.”

The mixed race young man Li Wei’s eyes shone.

“I wonder what it looks like.”

“Young Master, although the horde is still more than ten kilometres away, I think we should leave now just to be safe.”

The elderly man Liu smiled.

“There’s not much else to hear anyway.”

The large white man, Kalon, also looked towards Li Wei.

Li Wei nodded.

“Fine. Let’s head back to the base city.”

The four members of the Thunder Squad immediately left the building, reached a nearby motorway, and departed from City 003.

Meanwhile, Luo Feng was walking through the underground car park of the residential district.

The car park covered a vast area.

One particularly interesting feature was that the basement exits of the villas throughout the neighbourhood connected directly to it.

Residents could simply leave through their basement doors and enter the car park to access their vehicles.

The design was extremely convenient.

“Haha, this is perfect.”

Luo Feng carried his backpack as his throwing knife sliced through a door.

He quickly entered the basement of one of the connected villas.

The basement had been divided into a billiards room, home cinema, wine cellar, and other luxury facilities.

“They really knew how to enjoy life.”

Luo Feng smiled.

He quickly climbed the stairs to the ground floor and carefully hid beside a north facing window in the living room, observing outside.

As expected.

About a hundred metres away, he could see a dark cyan dragon tail slowly swaying.

The scales gleamed coldly beneath the winter sunlight.

The rest of the Armoured Dragon’s body was hidden behind another villa.

“The Armoured Dragon is clever too.”

Luo Feng smiled.

“It probably thinks I’m still hiding somewhere inside the estate.”

He quietly climbed to the third floor.

Keeping his body low enough to avoid being seen through the windows, he entered the front bedroom.

After decades of abandonment, the villa’s windows were already filthy.

Peering through the bedroom window, Luo Feng searched for the underground station entrance he had briefly spotted while flying.

“There it is.”

He quickly found one of the metro station entrances outside the residential district.

Based on the layout of the underground car park and the surrounding villas, he calculated the shortest underground route leading to the station.

“That’s the plan.”

Luo Feng carefully descended once more and returned to the underground car park.

Following his memory, he quickly reached a corner.

“If I dig straight ahead from here, it’ll be less than thirty metres to the metro station.”

Although thirty metres was not particularly close, it was the shortest route available.

“Now, how do I dig?”

His eyes fell upon several dusty vehicles parked nearby.

“Got it.”

Luo Feng smiled.

With a thought, a throwing knife flew out.

It silently sliced the bonnet panels from two cars.

Under the control of his spiritual force, the sheets of metal curled together like an ice cream cone, forming a giant steel cone.

Luo Feng then lay down inside it.

“Go.”

Using his spiritual force, the throwing knife first drilled a large hole through the reinforced concrete wall of the car park.

The cone shaped metal shell then pierced forward into the earth.

It drilled straight through the soil.

Scrape… scrape…

The abandoned metro station was covered in dust.

Suddenly, a section of wall roughly half a metre wide burst apart.

Chunks of dirt and stone tumbled down.

The pointed tip of a metal cone emerged first.

Then a figure rolled out from inside it.

“This method isn’t as fast as monsters that specialise in burrowing, but for a human martial artist, it’s not bad.”

Luo Feng was surprisingly clean.

The station had been abandoned for far too long.

He examined the metro map.

After wiping away the dust covering the protective glass, he studied it carefully.

“Hm. This tunnel leads to Kunshan?”

“Which city is Kunshan?”

Most city names from before the Great Nirvana Era had long been forgotten.

Luo Feng only remembered famous cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, and Hangzhou.

Kunshan?

Who knew where that was.

However, one thing was certain.

Kunshan was not part of Shanghai.

“Fine. I’ll take this route.”

Luo Feng jumped down into the old metro tunnel and quickly headed in the direction marked for Kunshan.

The tunnel was not completely safe.

He encountered a number of monsters along the way.

Most were weak soldier level creatures.

However, he also came across three junior commander monsters and even one intermediate commander monster.

All were relatively small creatures.

Naturally, under the control of his throwing knife, they were swiftly eliminated.

Not all sections of the metro line were underground.

Many portions ran above ground.

One section of the old metro line connecting Shanghai and Kunshan emerged onto the surface.

“I’ve travelled about a hundred kilometres.”

Luo Feng checked the positioning system on his communications watch.

Sure enough, he was already around fifty kilometres away from Shanghai.

“I should head to the motorway and return to the base city.”

“Who knows what other monsters might appear inside these tunnels.”

“And I have no interest in visiting Kunshan.”

“For all I know, it could be somewhere completely random.”

Luo Feng wore a broad smile.

His mood could not have been better.

After all, he had escaped Shanghai.

Immediately, carrying the large backpack containing the dragon egg and combat equipment, he headed towards the motorway indicated by his communications watch.

“I’m finally going home!”
