TWSBHSW Chapter 23

The next morning at five o clock, when the sky was just beginning to brighten, Luo Feng hurried to the Limit Martial Hall.

He had not yet received his prospective warrior certificate, so Luo Feng still used his advanced student card from the hall and entered.

“Senior brother.”

“Senior brother, good morning.”

Inside the Limit Martial Hall, many students were doing morning exercises on the grassy paths. Luo Feng smiled and nodded, then went straight to the third floor of the advanced student teaching building. Since he had not yet received his prospective warrior certificate, he could only enter the advanced student training hall and did not qualify for the instructor area on the fourth floor.

“Ha, hum.” Sounds of exhaled breaths and shouts came from the training hall.

Luo Feng looked inside and saw a young man in white robes holding an iron spear, constantly waving the large spear in his hands.

“Iron brother.” Luo Feng called out with a smile. “You came to practise spear so early in the morning. That is quite rare.”

“Madman.” The young man in white robes stopped, looked at Luo Feng with surprise and joy. “Why are you here? Haha, right, I must congratulate you first. Congratulations, madman, on passing the prospective warrior examination.”

“How did you know?” Luo Feng asked in astonishment.

Not many people should know about him passing the prospective warrior examination.

“Last night during class, the instructor mentioned it. He said that among our hall’s advanced students, both you, madman, and brother Yang had passed the prospective warrior examination.” The young man in white robes touched his head helplessly. “Seeing you two pass, I did not dare to slack off, so I came to practise spear early this morning.”

Luo Feng nodded.

So the instructor had mentioned it. Although the Limit Martial Hall had over thirty thousand students, there were only six instructors in total. There was only one chief instructor. When instructors taught, they mostly did so in huge lecture halls, teaching thousands of students at once.

Of course teaching advanced students did not need that. There were only a small number of advanced students in the entire hall.

“Madman, you have already passed the examination. What did you come for so early?” The young man in white robes laughed.

“The warrior actual combat examination is on August 1st. I need to prepare.” Luo Feng smiled and walked towards the weapon room next to the training hall. The door to the weapon room was not closed.

Inside the weapon room, a large number of weapons were placed on the weapon racks. Knives, spears, staffs, rods, axes, hammers, swords, pikes and so on, with many types. Within each major category, there were also many varieties. For example, among knives, there were single handed knives and double handed knives. Even single handed knives had many kinds.

“Blood Shadow series.” Luo Feng opened one of the weapon cabinets. Inside were many war blades of the same style. Of course these war blades were all replicas. The blade model, centre of gravity and weight were exactly the same as real blades. Only the material differed greatly. A real blade that could kill monsters might cost hundreds of thousands, but these replica blades cost only a few hundred, much cheaper.

Whoosh.

Luo Feng drew out one. This was a Blood Shadow series 2 war blade. The blade was 78 centimetres long, the whole blade was 101 centimetres long, the blade width was 5.2 centimetres, the back was rather thick, and the tip was sharp and good for thrusting.

“Hmm?” Luo Feng waved it twice casually and frowned. “I have used this Blood Shadow war blade for a long time. But it feels too light now.”

The war blade he was used to waving in the past now felt light and floating.

“My strength has increased, so the weight of the blade I use also needs to increase to feel comfortable.” Luo Feng took out another Blood Shadow series 2 war blade, waved and chopped it twice to produce sharp whistling sounds in the air. “No, still too light.”

“This one is not enough either.”

“Too light, far too light.”

Luo Feng took out the heaviest replica Blood Shadow series 2 war blade and could not help shaking his head with a smile. “It seems my strength has really improved too much. In this advanced student weapon room, I cannot find a single war blade suitable for me.” Luo Feng could only leave the third floor and head up the stairs to the fourth floor.

“The fourth floor is a place instructors and the chief instructor often go.” Luo Feng knew that the fourth floor also had training halls and weapon rooms. “Prospective warriors are qualified to enter the fourth floor, but my prospective warrior certificate has not been issued yet, so I do not know if I can enter.”

Next to the staircase entrance on the fourth floor, there was a small room. An old man was on duty there.

“Hmm? What are you doing? Students are not allowed in here.” The old man on duty stood up. Suddenly he showed a look of surprise and smiled. “It is Luo Feng. I heard from Hall Master Jiang that you passed the prospective warrior examination. Haha, come in.”

“Thank you, Uncle Li.” Luo Feng breathed a sigh of relief.

If Uncle Li had been strict and insisted that Luo Feng show his prospective warrior certificate, then Luo Feng would not have been able to enter. After all, legally speaking, Luo Feng was not yet a prospective warrior.

The training hall on the fourth floor had obviously much better decorations, and the various equipment was also much more high end.

At this moment, Luo Feng was the only person in the fourth floor training hall.

“What a waste, such a waste.” Luo Feng could not help shaking his head and sighing. “This hall only has six instructors in total. Apart from teaching classes, these six instructors spend most of their time cultivating at the Limit Clubhouse. Such a good place is left empty like this with hardly anyone coming.”

Shaking his head, Luo Feng entered the weapon room next to it.

The weapons in this weapon room were also replicas, but they looked much better on the outside than those on the third floor.

“Blood Shadow number 2 series. Hmm, the war blades here are indeed much heavier.” Luo Feng drew one out, waved and chopped twice, then changed to another. After five attempts, he finally selected one suitable for himself. He looked carefully at the marking on it. On the blade was the weight of this blade, 101 kilograms.

“What, 101 kilograms?” Luo Feng himself was startled. “Such a heavy blade and I actually feel comfortable and smooth using it?”

One should know that Blood Shadow war blades were originally the type designed for fast chopping and slashing, with relatively light weight.

Even when using this type of blade, 101 kilograms felt comfortable. Just how strong had his power reached now?

“My physical fitness improvement really is astonishing. I should test my fist strength and speed later.” Luo Feng felt some excitement. “For now, I will practise the basics first.” After selecting the war blade, he casually took a hexagonal shield as well.

In the training hall, Luo Feng had the shield on his left forearm and held the Blood Shadow war blade in his right hand.

“Ha.”

“Hum.”

Luo Feng stood in place and performed the standard moves of basic blade techniques, horizontal cuts, upward slashes, chops, continuous cuts and so on. Every move was very standard. With every chop, Luo Feng’s body centre of gravity remained unaffected. He continued practising like this, constantly making adjustments.

“My strength is now too great. My control over the force of chops is not fine enough.” Luo Feng also knew his own problem.

“Good physical fitness is one thing, but you still need to be able to use it properly.” Luo Feng understood this clearly.

Having better physical fitness than an opponent did not mean your strength was better than the opponent’s.

Some people could only use 30 percent of their physical fitness strength.

Others could use 50 percent, 60 percent, 70 percent or even 100 percent. Some blade technique master level figures could even kill existences ten times stronger than them with weak power. This showed the importance of technique and experience.

Of course, if the difference in physical fitness was too great, technique could not make up for it. Overall, no matter what, technique must be seriously trained to bring out one’s own body power.

“Hall Master.” The on duty Uncle Li on the fourth floor quickly called out respectfully.

“Who is inside?” Chief Instructor Jiang Nian asked. He clearly heard waves of sharp whistling sounds coming from the training hall next to them. These sharp whistling sounds were obviously produced when blades or swords reached astonishing speeds and split the air. Just from the sound, one could tell it was definitely warrior level.

“It is Luo Feng.” Uncle Li said with a smile.

“Luo Feng?” Chief Instructor Jiang Nian smiled slightly and walked towards the training hall.

Standing at the entrance of the training hall, Chief Instructor Jiang Nian watched Luo Feng inside performing one move after another. It was like a textbook as he continuously chopped with basic blade technique moves. Sometimes he chopped in place, sometimes he did so while moving at high speed, dodging, retreating and so on. The moves were very fluid.

“Hmm, the foundation is truly solid.” Chief Instructor Jiang Nian could not help nodding and praised in his heart. “With a good foundation, blade technique cultivation in the future will be better. No obvious weaknesses. Really good.”

The more he watched, the more satisfied he became.

“Ah, Chief Instructor.” Luo Feng only noticed Chief Instructor Jiang Nian when he turned around and quickly stopped.

Chief Instructor Jiang Nian smiled as he walked in. “Luo Feng, your blade technique is good. You must have started practising from a young age, right?”

“Yes. When I was younger and had not joined the hall, I just waved and chopped at home for fun.” Luo Feng smiled. Chief Instructor Jiang Nian nodded in satisfaction, but the smile on his face suddenly froze. He stared blankly at the Blood Shadow war blade in Luo Feng’s hand with his eyes wide open.

“Chief Instructor, Chief Instructor?” Luo Feng was startled by the chief instructor’s expression.

“You, you…” Chief Instructor Jiang Nian stared at Luo Feng in shock. “You were chopping with a 101 kilogram Blood Shadow war blade just now?”

“Yes, that is right.” Luo Feng was somewhat scared.

Chief Instructor Jiang Nian shook his head repeatedly. “Impossible, impossible… how could it be…” But right after, Chief Instructor Jiang Nian’s eyes lit up. He stared at Luo Feng as if looking at a peerless treasure. “Luo Feng, go to the fist strength testing machine. Quickly, throw a punch for me to see. Let me see exactly how much your fist strength has reached now.”

“During Luo Feng’s last prospective warrior examination, his fist strength was only around 1100 kilograms. In just a few short days, he can now easily wave a 101 kilogram Blood Shadow war blade and chop at such an astonishing speed. Has his strength not increased several times at once?” Chief Instructor Jiang Nian took a deep breath.

Since becoming a hall instructor, Jiang Nian’s martial hall contribution points had increased extremely slowly.

Warriors in the Limit Martial Hall all valued contribution points highly.

The fastest way to increase contribution points was to hunt monsters. But Jiang Nian had not hunted monsters for a long time.

“If my guess is correct, this Luo Feng’s speed in cultivating genetic energy must be much faster than ordinary warriors.” Jiang Nian thought. “He might even qualify for headquarters to send people over. If I can recommend Luo Feng up, not only can I earn martial hall contribution points, but I will also have face in front of the other instructors.”

Jiang Nian could not help feeling excited.

“Luo Feng, use your maximum power and throw that punch.” Jiang Nian shouted.

“Yes, Chief Instructor.”

Luo Feng walked to the fist strength testing machine, took a deep breath and thought, “Compared to my telekinetic ability, this fist and blade technique is a level lower.” Luo Feng had no intention of hiding his strength. He simply adjusted his breathing, then his whole body exerted force instantly. His spine arched like a large dragon.

Boom.

His fist slammed into the fist target like a missile. The fist target shook violently.

“Beep.”

“How much?” Jiang Nian immediately ran over and looked at the display screen of the fist strength testing machine. Luo Feng also looked at the display screen right after throwing the punch. Even he had no idea exactly how much his fist strength had reached now.

The fist strength testing machine display screen showed the clear number, 3109 kilograms.

“3109 kilograms?” Jiang Nian sucked in a breath of cold air and turned to stare at Luo Feng as if looking at a monster.

Luo Feng looked at this number and was also startled in his heart. His fist strength had actually increased so much. “Last time in the prospective warrior examination, I was around 1100 kilograms. The first time cultivating genetic energy, strength improves the fastest. It should have increased to around 1500 to 1800 kilograms. After that, my ability awakened and my body evolved, and it actually reached 3109 kilograms in one go?”

Ever since that awakening, Luo Feng clearly felt his body strength had increased a lot, but he had never had a clear number to show it.
